Details
This course is designed for workers who may be exposed to hydrogen sulphide (H2S) on the job, including those in industries such as oil and gas, construction, maintenance, industrial work, and sanitation.
Energy Safety Canada Training Service certification, which is valid for 3 years, will be granted upon successful completion of the course.
Course Description
Please bring your ESC Student ID number with you to your assessment.
This blended certification renewal course is comprised of an online theory exam through Energy Safety Canada and an in-person skills assessment through Big Hearts First Aid.
This course is designed to renew the previously learned skills and knowledge employees require to protect themselves in an environment where there is a hydrogen sulphide (H2S) hazard.
Upon Completion
Upon successful completion of the online theory exam through Energy Safety Canada (ESC), students will be eligible to complete the skills assessment through Big Hearts First Aid. Successful completion of the skills assessment will result in a Certificate of Completion that is valid for three years. Should a student be unsuccessful in either the online theory or skills assessment on the first attempt, they will be required to attend classroom delivery of H2S Alive to achieve their certification.
Prerequisites:
• Current (not expired) H2S Alive certificate
• Government-issued picture ID

Students must complete the online portion of the course then attend the practical portion
Notes
• A copy of the confirmation email provided by ESC after successful completion of the online theory portion of the course, must be provided to Big Hearts First Aid at the time of the skills assessment.
• Participants must be able to put on a mask and breathe using a Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
• Participants must be able to take part in rescue drag techniques.
• For the skills assessment, students should wear sensible footwear and clothing suitable for the activity and movement associated with rescue techniques and putting on / taking off of a Self-contained Breathing Apparatus.
• Basic ability to read, write and understand the language in which the course is being taught is required.

Course Details
Step 1. Register with Energy Safety Canada for the online course www.energysafetycanada.com/Course/120444. Upon successful completion of the online theory exam with a minimum score of 70%, proceed to step 2
Step 2. Attend the in person skills assessment.
Should a student be unsuccessful in either the online theory or skills assessment on the first attempt, they will be required to attend classroom delivery of H2S Alive to achieve their certification.
Length: 3 hours online theory + 30 mins in class
Certificate: Valid for three years
